This is a workshop
developed specifically for use in CSCI 224,
Robotics and Machine Intelligence. A pair of photoresistors
are
used in the construction and mounting of wheel encoders that
can
be used for absolute positioning. Construction requires some
soldering and use of a heat gun to heat shrink the photoresistors
for improved readings. The workshop is designed for use outside
of CSCI 224 and can be used to introduce students to basic
electronics techniques (soldering, interpreting schematic
diagrams,
etc.) and some fundamentals of sensors.
